Cosy Corner is a delightful mix of period and modern; a peaceful retreat to unwind in a typical cotswold stone cottage with contemporary home comforts. The cottage has been evaluated under the Visit England national accreditation scheme and awarded 4 stars for the scope of the accommodation and and a Gold award for the standard and quality.

The accommodation comprises a ground floor lounge, with dining table, which has a large and characterful inglenook fireplace, and well equipped kitchen with induction hob, twin oven, fridge with freezer compartment (a full size freezer is in the washroom - see below), dishwasher and microwave as well as all the usual small appliances which will make this home from home. On the first floor is the bathroom which has a bath (with shower attachment), separate shower, wash basin, toilet, shaver point, and heated towel rail. There is also a twin bedroom on this floor ( 2 x 3ft single beds). On the second floor is the double bedroom (1 x 4ft6in double bed).

The inglenook fireplace is home to a very efficient wood burning stove which will warm any chill evening.

Electricity and an initial supply of logs, kindling, and fire lighters, are included in the price, along with starter supplies of toilet rolls, dish washer tablets, tea, coffee and sugar.

You are welcome to enjoy the cottage garden, which extends across the access pathway through a gate, and to enjoy the garden games which can be found in the small shed, or a BBQ on the patio area (Weber BBQ and tools supplied - you will need to provide BBQ fuel).

A high chair and travel cot (with mattress) are available. Please email or telephone after booking if you need one or more. Stair Gates have been fitted just inside the bedroom doors. They are retractable and can be used if required.

In the garden you will find "the washroom". This has been equipped with a washing machine, 2 tumble dryers, and a freezer. There is also a toilet, washbasin and full size walk in shower. The washroom is ideal for walkers or cyclists returning after a day trek, but of course can be equally useful for all guests.

The cottage and washroom benefit from an Air Source Heat Pump, providing efficient heating and, during hot weather, air cooling; making you stay during a hot spell much more comfortable.

Accessibility, health and safety

This is an old property and has typical character features, including relatively narrow and steep stairs, low beams in one room and doors of lower height than modern doors. On the stairways, appropriately placed handrails are in situ. However, guests with impaired mobility may encounter some difficulty with access, including their ability to quickly exit the cottage in the event of an emergency. Given the age and character of the cottage, regrettably, wheelchair access to other than the ground floor is not possible and some of the approach surfaces to the cottage may be challenging.

An Accessibility Guide is available on request, or can be viewed and downloaded from the link below. This describes the surfaces and identifies the beam, stair, and other heights in the cottage and includes photographs.

The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.

Sustainability / Environment

A number of initiatives have been undertaken to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, as follows:

  • Double glazed Windows (R8 Windows which are designed for period buildings).
  • Air source heat pump heating which is much more efficient than oil or gas or traditional electric heating. An added bonus is air cooling in the summer.
  • LED lighting throughout including LED filament lamps which consume less than 10% of the electricity of standard bulbs.
  • Induction hob in the kitchen.
  • A-rated white goods.
  • We purchase electricity from a renewable tariff.

Sustainability / Environment

A number of initiatives have been undertaken to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, as follows:

  • Softened water; not only does soft water feel nice to the touch, it requires much less soap or detergent and with no lime scale build up (in what is a very hard water area), the sinks, bath, and shower require less cleaning solutions and the water systems and washing machines last much longer.
  • A reverse osmosis water purifier provides top quality drinking water and there is no need to purchase bottled water.
  • The Housekeeping team use environment friendly products where possible.
  • We use compostable coffee capsules where possible.
  • Single use plastic is minimised with soap and other consumables purchased in bulk and everyday containers refilled.
